Grow Malawi Female Entrepreneurs Receive Visit from the UN-OHRLLS
On Friday February 8th, 2019, mHub hosted the United Nations Development Programme – UNDP Under Secretary General Ms. Fekitamoeloa ‘Utoikamanu for an eventful Growth Accelerator Malawi luncheon with the female entrepreneurs who have been selected to take part in the first cohort.
The High Representative’s visit focused on engaging with female entrepreneurs and discussing the opportunities and challenges they face during their entrepreneurial journey. Ms. ‘Utoikamanu was delighted to get to know some of the similarities that female entrepreneurs face in the world such as balancing family and the day to day aspects of running their businesses. A look at cultural narratives also formed part of the discussion in seeing how it affects women’s ability to grow Malawi’s entrepreneurship ecosystem. The visit to mHub was part of her mission trip to Malawi.
Growth Accelerator Malawi encourages female participation and gender equality with this year’s total of 5 women led ventures who are amongst the Top 11 finalists. The female entrepreneurs present at the luncheon were:

Growth Accelerator is an initiative funded by UNDP and The Royal Norwegian Embassy, aimed at supporting emerging entrepreneurs with financial and technical assistance to scale up their ventures. The initiative is being implemented by MHub in partnership with GrowthAfrica – Growth Frontiers, Accesserator and Kweza Equity Partners.
